The Story Behind the Piece

“Visitors to our home soon realize that our it’s filled with animals. Nearly everyday there is a “stand off” involving any number of them. Just as in this composition, my son’s pug “Uggy” is generally in the middle of such conflicts.

Inspiration: Keeping the peace when dealing with my young son Warner, his pug “Uggy,” our other dog “Chubby Latte” and our cat “Fungus”, was quite a feat. Having just one of them sitting still long enough for a quick sketch was challenging. Having them all in my studio at the same time was a near disaster. It was the pug that caused most of the trouble and after a long afternoon, the title “ The Peacekeeper” came naturally.” – George Lundeen
